On the ground floor of Casa da Eira there is a dining room with typical Portuguese furniture, a kitchen and a bathroom. On the first floor there is the living room furnished in colonial style and with armchairs. It is a nice and cozy room. There are many Dutch books, games, a reading lamp and mood lighting. The first bedroom is decorated with 100-year-old furniture and the second bedroom has rustic furniture, like a double bed, a bedside table and a wardrobe. In the attic there is a double bed, a nightstand and a closet. Under the house you'll find a cellar with its own entrance where wine is still produced, but is used mostly for storage. Here you'll find the garden furniture, barbecue and mountain bikes.
Casa da Eira is located in the picturesque village of Rio de Mel, in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela at an altitude of about 700 meters. Rio de Mel is surrounded by the Serra da Estrela and Serra de Acor to the south and the rivers Rio and Rio Alva Alcovo to the west and east. The local people are very friendly and hospitable and the village has less than a hundred inhabitants. Nearby you can enjoy swimming, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, mountain climbing, 4-wheel drive excursions or take day trips by car. Of course you can always just sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet as well. In the neighborhood there are good restaurants that mainly serve local food. The prices are between 5 and 20 euro per person. Some restaurants occupy idyllic spots where you can swim in the river, or even grill.
