Location

This traditional little farm (tanya) has recently been converted to a holiday home, but has managed to keep its original century-old atmosphere with traditional Hungarian water well, horse barn, thick walls, wood beams, old closet, etc. The farm is situated in a unique location, hidden by trees in an open landscape, surrounded by poppies and grass land. A little paradise in the midst of the Hungarian countryside. An excellent place to enjoy plenty of peace and quiet along with pristine nature. In winter, pheasant, deer and roe choose Jelly Tanya for their lair. Otherwise the grounds (700m2) are yours. There are several places where you can sit, and there is even a little tea pavillion. The Hungarian climate is pleasant thanks to the many hours of sunshine. Summer can be pretty hot, however around the house there are many shady spots. Inside the house the thick walls and small windows keep it pleasantly cool in summer. In the immediate vicinity you'll find not only picturesque farms, but beautiful nature reserves which are excellent for hiking. Jelly Tanya is rented via the nearby Szabad Föld estate, where you can consult the manager. As a guest of Jelly Tanya you can use all the facilities of Szabad Föld like the fax, swimming pool, tennis court, etc.

Interior

This farm has been completely modernized on the in- and outside and is suitable for 6 persons. The fully-equipped kitchen has a large refrigerator, cooker, coffeemaker, etc. With the exception of the kitchen the house has been left in its traditional Hungarian style as much as possible. In the living room you'll find a table and chairs, a little bar and 1 single bed. The Transylvanian stove is very striking, and ensures comfortable temperatures during spring and autumn. On the ground floor there is a spacious hall and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The large ground floor bedroom is suitable for three persons and is furnished with 1 single and 1 double bed plus a wash basin. By way of the stairs you reach the attic where you will find the second bedroom (2 beds), especially suitable for teenagers. If you need a highchair or crib, please mention this at the time of reservation. They will then be placed in the house for you, free of charge.

Surroundings

This farm lies close to the hamlet of Csemö-Zöldhalom and the town of Cegléd, where you can do all your shopping. There's a swimming pool with a beach and a thermal bath in Cegléd. The surroundings are excellent for cycling, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and making trips by horse and buggy. Because of its central location, Jelly Tanya is an excellent starting point for numerous excursions. For example, you can visit the traditional national park of Bugac Puszta or watch a horse-show in Lajosmizse. Walk around the Eger fortress with its museum and learn about how the Hungarians checked the advancing Turks. Visit Budapest (43 miles) and enjoy a thermal bath in one of the old Turkish baths. Kecskemét (13 miles) is a special puszta border town, where you can go on a shopping spree. Savour the Hungarian kitchen, tasty and still quite inexpensive. Arrival and departure are on Saturdays. In the case of an online reservation, you will receive an invoice by e-mail immediately. Upon making your reservation you will receive an information guide with itinerary and information. Please make the second payment on time. You will receive no reminder. If there has been no damage to the interior or building, your entire deposit will be returned to you. The landlord will transfer the amount to your account. If there is any damage, please report it. The deposit is used to cover repairs. Because of the lengthy droughts in this part of Hungary, campfires are strictly forbidden. Be careful with open fires in the barbecue. The picking of fruit for your own use is permitted. Climbing the pigeon-house is forbidden. Parents are requested to watch their children.
