Cultural Holiday in Aquitaine
Gironde, one of the five departments of Aquitaine, is the largest department in metropolitan France. It's capital, Bordeaux, is situated near the Atlantic coast and is home to numerous cultural attractions. It's Gallo Roman origins can be seen in a number of its ancient streets as well as the Pallo Gallien, a 2nd century amphitheatre. The magnificent 18th century Palais de la Bourse is now home to the Bordeaux National Opera. Of course you will find a variety of museums here including the excellent Musée d'Aquitaine. Best of all, Bordeaux is easily accessible from one of our comfortable holiday homes in France
Enjoy an Active Holiday in Aquitaine
On Arachon Bay near Bordeaux lies the Great Dune of Pyla, the largest sand dune in Europe. It is not surprising that in this part of France surfing is quite popular. If surfing is not your cup of tea, you can still enjoy a variety of water sports along the Atlantic coast in resort towns such as Lacanau, Arachon, Biscarosse, Mimizan, Capbreton and Hendaye. Farther inland you can go hiking or cycling through the vast forested region of Landes. Book one of our holiday homes today and let the adventure of a lifetime begin!
