Two words: Gouda Cheese. And you can take it from here. The Dutch cuisine in itself is one that can really make a difference, and the dishes in South Holland are not any less “life changing”. The Erwtensoep (pea soup) and Stamppot (mashed potatoes and sauerkraut) that go with rookworst (smoked sausage) are much praised here also. The mackerel, cod, oysters, mussels, eel and prawns coming from the North Sea... you can just imagine the freshness and deliciousness of the fish and seafood here and you're already on the right path. A slow-cooked draadjesvlees (tender beef stew) as well as some perfect gehaktballen meatballs with mashed potatoes or in a burger bun... you're in South Holland.
In case you haven't heard, Noordwijk is known as "the flower seaside resort of Europe". This seaside town hosts the famous growing area for flower bulbs in the country, and... this is not all.
