There's a holiday in Italy and then there's a holiday in Tuscany...one may say it's the same thing, and indeed it geographically is, but Tuscany is just...not being done enough justice by the praising words that describe it. There's the vineyards and olive groves, the various wineries, the pine trees forests, the lush and green countryside, the renowned cities as well as quaint villages set in the most inspiring areas with astonishing views and a friendly atmosphere. The locals here will welcome you to what is probably the greatest art hub in the world, with paintings, frescoes, sculptures and architectural masterpieces. On the other hand the mountain paths, rolling hills, sea coast and islands await for those wishing for a time out among exquisite nature, and a holiday home in Tuscany will set you right in the middle of it all.
When it comes to cities in Tuscany, there's just more than setting up a list of places you want to visit. Each city has its own charm and cultural heritage to offer, and among them you just must count in Florence with the Ucathedral, the Baptistry and the Uffizi Gallery, the library of San Lorenzo, the historic Ponte Vecchio and many others. And then a holiday home in Tuscany sets you up for a visit to Pisa as well, with the Leaning Tower and the Squares of Miracles, or maybe head over to the medieval city of Siena, the central area with the Il Campo piazza is just magnificent, and the horse race run held here twice every summer will provide you with sufficient pictures to travel back on the memory lane of your holiday in Tuscany. Cities like Lucca, or Arezzo, Chianti, and Maremma set out the authentic Italian style to suit everyone's needs and expectations.
Truth is you don't hear that much about the Tuscan beaches outside of Italy, and just as true is the fact that these beaches are really amazing, really have something for everyone and they can be a nice change of pace from the visiting of Tuscany's cultural sights on a summer day. So about an hour away from Florence there is Versilla, with several beaches like Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio. The first mentioned one is a glamorous seaside resort with a white sandy beach and luxury hotels, and if you go for a day you most likely have to rent an umbrella and beach chair from an ‘stabilimento balnere’ for a moderate price (totally worth it), while the second one is less flashy and more family friendly, less expensive yet more beautiful than you can imagine. For a little something different head over to the Maremma region towards south, where beach towns like Grosseto, Punta Ala, Monte Argentario await for their visitors to spend the perfect family holiday in Tuscany. Rocky coves, surrounding forests, beautiful water is what displays the character of these beaches. All in all, the perfect outing.
